Even though it was prophesied, the anguish had to be great when the boys were killed in Bethlehem. The Greatest Gift involves dying for another. There is not greater gift that we can give.
Malachi 3:1-6 As long as we can keep him in the manger, and feel the sentimental feelings we have for babies, Jesus doesn’t disturb us. But once we understand that his coming means for every one of us either salvation or condemnation, he disturbs us deeply.
PASS THE BATON Text: 2 Timothy 4:1-8 As we end the year, have you finished well? When it is all said and done, what do you want to have people remember about you? Paul is at the end of his life and he wants to make sure that Timothy will take the baton. What do you need to do to pass the baton to someone in the next generation or to someone who does not yet know Jesus?
John 1:4-8 Do you enjoy the Christmas Lights that go up on homes, churches and businesses this time of the year? The lights are a reminder that Jesus is the light of the world. He overcomes the darkness in our world and in our souls. Let’s shine our lights so the whole world will see Jesus
Luke 2:25-35 Mary and Joseph make the trek to Jerusalem from Bethlehem about a month after Jesus is born. They are there to present their son and Mary for purification. How do you think this young mother felt as Simeon prophesied about the piercing of her heart and the role of Jesus? The Cross is at the heart of the Christmas story. When you stand at the cross, it is hard to hide what is in your heart. At the cross, we are humbled by Jesus’ sacrifice and our sin.
John 1:1-3 The Son of God existed from the beginning of time. At Christmas, he entered human life in the form of a baby. Pre-existent, Christ limits himself to a human body. Amazing!

Yet in our business with the season, even Christians can ignore the Savior. What will you do to make sure that you don’t ignore Jesus this Christmas?
John 1:12-14 The song, Feliz Navidad says, “I want to wish you a Merry Christmas from the bottom of my heart.” Don’t we all want our gifts to be received as a gift from the bottom of our hearts? We strive to give the perfect gift that communicates our love. When we give that special gift, we want our loved one to know how special they are to us. God loved the world so much that He gave us His Son. Merry Christmas!
