WHY FEAR WHAT PEOPLE CAN DO? Psalm 118:4-9 There is so much that is happening around us that is troubling. Fear of covid-19 is still great. People continue to protest and riot. Social distancing has us staying away from one another. Even our worship is restricted. Do you get afraid that we are in the end times? God is with us, so why are we afraid?
FEAR THAT LEADS TO FORGIVENESS Psalm 130 “If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared” (Psalm 130:3-4). The continual blessings we receive from God, especially the forgiveness of our sins, should lead us to fear and love him.
Psalm 33:8-11 and 18-20 FEAR OF GOD GIVES ME HOPE I will not be afraid because my hope is in God whom I fear and worship. The plans of the Lord last forever and man’s plans will not keep him from accomplishing his will.
Psalm 34:4-11 I FEAR GOD WHOM I TRUST We need to learn to fear the Lord and God will take away all our fears.
Psalm 112:6-8 I AM NOT AFRAID OF BAD NEWS Even if we receive bad news, we know that God can be trusted. In the end, we will triumph.
Ps 94:18-19,22 God knows when I am feeling anxious. He does not judge me instead, he supports me and that is where I find joy.
Psalm 56:3-4 The key to overcoming fear is total and complete trust in God. Trusting God is a refusal to give in to fear. It is a turning to God even in the darkest times and trusting Him to make things right. WHAT CAN MAN DO TO ME?
Psalm 46:1-3 Even the most terrifying events cannot shake us from our firm foundation in God.
Ps 27:1-3 With God as our source of strength, we need not fear anything on earth.
Daniel 12:5-13 WHEN IS JESUS COMING BACK? One of the angels visiting Daniel asks the Lord when the end will come. Daniel also wants to know. Everything is there for us to know and we will understand if we stay close to the Lord.
FAITHFULNESS IN HARD TIMES
God is a multidimensional God – we see it in God’s creation, we see it in Jesus’ incarnation, and we see it in how the Holy Spirit moves. Because God is multidimensional I’m never alone. To pray in five dimensions, as I pray, I look backward to the cross, I look upward to my Father’s loving face, I look inward to Jesus living inside me, I look around and ask the Holy Spirit to use me, and I look forward to my future in faith.
