Teach Them To Obey 2-8-15
John 8:31-47
One of the final instructions that Jesus gave the disciples before ascending to Heaven was the Great Commission to “make disciples.” The disciples understood and pursued this commission with their lives. Do we understand the Great Commission? If so, how are you doing at making Disciples of Christ? Once a person identifies their life with Christ, Jesus said we should teach them to obey what He commanded. Obedience out of duty or legalism will fail. Obedience must come as a response in love to the love of Christ.
Are You Ready 2-5-15
Mark 1:1-8
Are you ready for Jesus to visit you? John the Baptist prepared the way for the Son of God by calling the people to repentance. The first stage of discipleship is repentance. Christ invites us to come to Him and we are broken because of our sin. Even mature disciples need to continue to listen and repent of sin. Are you willing to allow God to show you any blind spots you have that need cleansing? Are you open to the Holy Spirit’s conviction? When God shows you your sin, will you repent?
Why Was Jesus Baptized 2-22-15
Mark1:9-13
John the Baptist called people to repentance than he baptized them as part of there commitment to God and in preparation to the coming Messiah So Why did Jesus ask John to Baptize him?
The whole Trinity is present as Jesus demonstrates his willingness to be obedient to the mission. Jesus shows us how God responds to obedience.
WAS JESUS REALLY TEMPTED 3-1-15
Mark 1:12-13
Immediately after the affirmation of the Father and the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit takes Jesus into the wilderness where Jesus is tempted after having fasted for forty days. Temptation often comes after a positive experience or when we are weakest. Jesus is able to sympathize with our weakness because He experienced temptation like we do.
COME FOLLOW ME Mark 3-8-15
Mark 1:14-20
Immediately after the affirmation of the Father and the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit takes Jesus into the wilderness where Jesus is tempted after having fasted for forty days. Temptation often comes after a positive experience or when we are weakest. Jesus is able to sympathize with our weakness because He experienced temptation like we do.
A LESSON ABOUT DEMONS 3-15-15
Mark 1:21-28
Jesus has the power to overcome evil. He speaks and acts with authority. In the Great Commission, Jesus said that we are able to make disciples because of His authority. Is there anything hindering His power from working in your life and through your life?
Pastor Jeff Tunnell is bringing the message again today. Pastor Bill and Debbie just returned home from Israel.
PLEASE DON’T ASK MY OPINION 4-26-15
Mark 2:18-22
What do we need to change to make room for the joy of Christ in our lives? Jesus directs their thoughts to the illustration that John the Baptist had used when his disciples were concerned that Jesus was becoming more popular. You have to celebrate when the Bridegroom is present. Weddings are about joy. The Sabbath should be about joy. Our worship should be joyful.
WHAT DISTRACTS YOU ON SUNDAY?
Mark 2:23 – 3:6 What causes you to lose your focus from worship? Do the people around you distract you? Do you get distracted by the stuff you want to do instead of worship? Are you so busy with the activity of worship that you don’t worship God? When you come to worship, what takes your attention away from the Lord? Why are you here?
I Forgive You 4-5-15
Do You Have A Limp 1-01-2017
Genesis 32:19-32 Are you beginning the new year with a limp? We have all experienced challenges when we tried to do things without God’s direction or blessing. Past failures and sin may hinder and cause us to limp into the New Year. God wants to bless us and set us free from our own judgment.
Jesus Still Touches Us 4-5-15
HER NAME IS MOM 5-10-15
Matthew 15:21-28
In this passage, an unnamed mother pleads to have Jesus hear her need and free her daughter from a demon. She assesses her daughter’s need and believes that Jesus is the best remedy. Persistently, she begs to be heard. When she worships Jesus, he responds to her faith and heals her daughter. Moms suffer to give us life and often suffer on our behalf.
They Hurled Insults At Him 3-26-17
Mark 15:16-32 The phrase “added insult to injury” is so true of what happened to Jesus on the cross. He is mocked at the trials with Caiaphas, mocked by the soldiers who scourged him, mocked by the people watching him on the cross, and mocked by the religious leaders who should have been celebrating his coming. How could he endure all this pain?
A Broken Soldier 3-12-17
A BROKEN SOLDIER Mark 14:66-72 Peter was confident that he would never deny Jesus. He was so confident that when they came to arrest Jesus, Peter took out a sword and began to attack. Was Peter too confident? Is that why he denied ever knowing Jesus, even calling down curses from Heaven? The good news is that God did not accept the curses and he did not reject Peter. Peter will be forgiven and will even lead thousands to faith in Jesus Christ all because he was broken and allowed Jesus to restore him.
Are You The Christ 3-15-17
Mark 14:53-65 Nothing about the trial at the home of Caiaphas the High Priest, was legal according to Jewish law. Even the witnesses who attempted to support trumped up charges were unable to convict Jesus of any wrongdoing. When the High Priest asks him directly if he is the Messiah, Jesus cannot keep silent. Imploring the Name of God, Jesus responds with the great “I Am.” He is condemned to death, which should have been by stoning, on the basis of his confession that He is God.
Arrested Like A Common Criminal 2-26-17
Mark 14:42-52 Judas came to the Garden of Gethsemane and kissed Jesus to identify him for the guards who had come to arrest Jesus. Jesus is treated like a fugitive criminal even though he has been at the temple daily. Could you have betrayed the Messiah or a friend with a kiss? Can you imagine betraying God? Frankly, we are more like Judas then we may care to admit. God forgive us when we betray you with our actions or even our lack of taking action.
SIMON, ARE YOU SLEEPING?
Mark 14:37-41 When we’re physically and emotionally exhausted, it’s easy to fall asleep spiritually. It’s in those moments we’re most vulnerable to our old habits and temptations. This is why Jesus warned his disciples “Watch and pray that you may not enter temptation. The spirit is indeed willing but the flesh is weak.” The disciples chose their own needs over God that night at Gethsemane. We need prayer, just as the disciples needed, to wake up.
Is There Any Other way 1-12-17
Mark 14:32-36 Could Jesus really have avoided the cross? Was he tempted to not give his life? Wasn’t this a terrible spiritual and emotional battle for Jesus? Jesus is overwhelmed to the point of death. Everything human in him is dreading what lies ahead. He is also in a battle with the will of His Father. How much does Jesus truly love us, enough to be beaten, abused and killed on a cross? God’s will and Jesus’ love for us motivates him to face the horrors of Calvary and the temptation to run.
The Greatest Gift 9-11-16
Mark 12:41-44 Jesus watches what people give. He recognizes a woman who gives out of her poverty rather than her abundance. So often we sing that we give everything to the Lord. Is this really true?
The Largest Gift 9-18-16
Mark 12:41-44 Jesus watches what people give. He recognizes a woman who gives out of her poverty rather than her abundance. So often we sing that we give everything to the Lord. Is this really true?
Thank God For A Break 10-16-16
Mark 13:14-23 Watch for the abomination that causes desolation. The days of distress are unequaled. The destruction will be complete. The Lord will cut the horror short. Run from the city. The people ran into Jerusalem and the Temple and were killed. There will be false messiahs. Be on your guard. You know everything you need to know.
When Friends Betray Us 11-13-16
Mark 14:10-21 Have you ever been betrayed by a friend or loved one? How did you handle the pain? Can you imagine how Jesus felt being betrayed by one of the men that he poured his life into for three years? What drives someone to betray a friend?
Stand Up For Jesus 10-10-16
Mark 13:9-13 As Jesus left the temple for the very last time, he warned the disciples that they needed to be ready for the persecution that would come. He promised that the Holy Spirit would equip them to respond when persecuted. Are you ready to stand up for Jesus no matter what the cost is?
Love Does Things Beautiful 11-06-16
Mark 14:1-9 Mary’s brother, Lazarus, died and Jesus brought him back to life. At a banquet in honor of Lazarus’ life, Mary anoints Jesus for burial. She takes her most expensive possession and unashamedly anoints his head and feet. Simon the leper, Mary and Lazarus are all appreciative of what Jesus has done for them. They all have reason for celebration.
How does The World See Us
Mark 13:24-27 Jesus will come again. Even the heavens will be shaken. He will be visible in the clouds. He will collect the elect from the four corners of the world.
A Symbol Of My Love 11-7-16
Mark 14:22-31 Jesus initiates a New Covenant with His Blood. He then leads the disciples to prepare for His Death. Can you imagine being in a squad of soldiers and hearing your commander say that you are all going to run in fear?
LIAR, LUNATIC, OR LORD 5-24-15
Mark 3:20-35
Jesus continues to do battle with the powers of evil and the religious leaders who do not believe in Him. Even His family begins to question His sanity. How did He handle this criticism?
COME WITH ME 5-17-15
Mark 3:7-19
Jesus begins to withdraw from the crowds to focus on His mission. He invites the twelve to “Come With Him” on His Mission. He will give them authority to preach and authority over demons. Jesus invites us to join Him in His Mission as well. Christ has given us the same authority to speak for Him and to overcome the powers of darkness keeping people from Him. How have you responded to Jesus’ invitation to “Come With Me”?
USE IT OR LOSE IT 6-7-15
Mark 4:21-25
What are we doing with what we hear? God wants to bless us with more blessings when we listen to the Word of God. However, the more we discard the Word of God, the more we will lose God’s blessings.
Jesus, Son Of David Lord 8-28-16
Mark 12:35-37 Throughout Jesus’ ministry, the people have referred to him as Son of David. This is a title for the Messiah. Jesus takes that title and teaches them that he is LORD. He will be sentenced to death for blasphemy because of his affirmation that he is Lord. Because he is Lord, he is able to pay the penalty for our sins. Praise the Lord!
What Matters Most To God 8-21-16
Mark 12:28-34 In this portion of Mark, we are in the middle of Holy Week, just two days from Jesus’ crucifixion. Jesus is trying to help the disciples to be prepared for his death and he shares the most vital messages with his disciples and us. How close are you to understanding what really matters to God? Even more important, how are you doing and living what Jesus says matters most to God?
DO WE HAVE TO PAY OUR TAXES 7-31-16
Mark 12:13-17 Just how important are our time, talents and treasures to the Lord? Jesus taught an important but simple lesson by using a Roman coin and instructing the people to give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s. Are you doing what God wants from you?
BY WHAT AUTHORITY 7-17-16
Mark 11:27-33 By what authority do you make decisions and determine your beliefs, the authority of the Word of God or your own authority? Beware of speaking or acting on your authority and not the authority of God. God will reach a point of no longer speaking to us.
PRAYER OF FAITH 07-10-16
Mark 11:20-26 Prayer is vitally important to Jesus. He regularly went out in the early morning hours to pray. He spent time with His Father at every important ministry decision. As he begins his final week of life in Jerusalem, he teaches his disciples again about praying in faith. How would you evaluate your prayer life?
House Of Prayer 07-03-16
Mark 11:1-19 Jesus clears the temple because he calls it a House of Prayer for all nations. Is our facility a place where people would be drawn for prayer? Is your home a place where people are drawn for prayer?

Look At How Good We Are 6-5-16
Mark 10:28-31 The disciples left their families and their businesses to follow Jesus. They were following a rabbi who spoke with authority and performed incredible miracles. They did not know or understand that he was the Son of God until later. We know that he is the Son of God. Have we left everything to follow Jesus?
Salvation What Must I Do 5-29-16
Mark 10:17-27 The fact is that no one can enter the Kingdom of Heaven without the help of God. It is impossible to inherit eternal life. It is impossible to work your way into Heaven. Nothing you do can earn you a place in Heaven. Only God can save you.
What If I Have A Hard Heart 5 -15 -16
Mark 10:1-12 Moses permitted divorce because of the hardness of people’s hearts. What other sins do we commit because of the hardness of our hearts. What are the signs of a hard heart and what can we do about one? Will you know if your heart is hard?
Like A Little Child 5-22-16
Mark 10:13-16 Have you watched how adults talk to an infant? Often the language becomes unintelligible. Grandparents play childish games with their grandchildren that they have not played for years. Jesus says that we need to become like little children to become part of His Kingdom. What does this mean for you?
Children Matter To Jesus 5 -1-16
Mark 9:28-37 Jesus is teaching his disciples some important lessons. The most important one is that he will die and rise again. He also wants them to learn how important service is to him. He models this by showing them a little child and challenges them to serve the children and thus to serve Him.
Watch Out For Foot And Mouth Disease 4 -24 -16
Mark 9:1-13 God the Father sends Moses and Elijah to minister to Jesus as he prepares for his death. This is the third week in a row that Peter’s comments get him extra attention from the Lord. We get all excited about things around us, but do we listen to Jesus? Do the things that excite us cause us to miss what God is trying to say to us?
Who Are Your Role Models 5-8-16
Mark 9:38-50 Moms, whom do you look to,to teach you how to be a good mother? Who is your role model? Was it your mother or someone else that you look to as an example? Our text talks about the value of being salty or flavored with Christ. How well are you flavoring your home and your life with Christ? Who are you trying serve as a role model?
Jesus Heals The Blind Man 4 -10 -16
DO YOU SEE ANYTHING? Mark 8:22-30 A blind man gradually gains his sight just as Peter has gradually come to the realization that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. How would you answer Jesus’ question, “Who do you say that I am?” This is the pivotal point of the Gospel of Mark and the pivotal question that makes the difference in our eternity.
Lord You Are Making A Mistake 4 -17 -16
Mark 8:31-9:1 Peter moves from the mountain to the doghouse. He actually attempts to rebuke Jesus for what he is saying. Jesus challenges the disciples and the people to deny themselves, take up their crosses, and follow him. Can you imagine trying to tell God what to do or even rebuking God?
DON’T YOU GET IT?
DON’T YOU GET IT? Mark 8:1-21 Feeding the four thousand is an incredible sign of Jesus’ authority and the Pharisees want to see more. Jesus warns the disciples of the danger of the leaven of the Pharisees. Don’t the disciples understand what he did with the two miraculous meals?

Mark 4:1-20

FROM LITTLE ACORNS 6-13-15
Mark 4:26-34 Seeds Of Faith
The Kingdom of God is like a seed that grows and produces a harvest. The farmer just watches and waits for the seed to grow. Like the farmer, we are to plant seeds and let Jesus bring forth a harvest.
EVEN CRITICS HAVE NEEDS 7-05-15
Mark 5:21-24 and 35-43
People may disagree with our beliefs but they will be receptive when they have needs. Watch for opportunities to minister to people when they are in need. We will win people through caring and love rather than through judgment. This does not mean that you hide or reject your values. Just let love be your highest value.
ONE THOUSAND DEMONS! NO WAY! 6-28-15
Mark 5:1-20
Is it possible that one man could have more than a thousand demons? Do you think we are still dealing with demons today or is this just figurative language? Have we become so enlightened that we do not need to overcome demons like Jesus had to do? If demons still exist and still attack people, what will we do about it? Do you understand your spiritual resources? Of course, if they do not exist, we have nothing to be concerned about.
A HEALING ON THE WAY TO A MIRACLE
Mark 5:25-34
When Jesus heals us, he does more than meet our physical needs, he also heals our emotional needs. In the story of the Unclean Woman, Jesus knows when power leaves him. What do you need to bring to Jesus? How would you measure your faith?
Go To Those Who Are Receptive
TOO TIRED TO PREPARE A MEAL 8-16-15
Mark 6:30-44
Even successful ministry experiences can be exhausting. Jesus taught his disciples to take time off for refreshment. Nevertheless, he also taught compassion for the people who did not have a shepherd to care for them. Jesus wants His disciples to be refreshed by being alone with Him and to be ready to do amazing things with His power.
What Is Under the Hood? 9-06-15
Mark 7:14-23
Jesus is more concerned about the outflow of your heart than what goes into you. Food, God’s creation does not make us unclean, but the actions of a sinful heart do. God examines our hearts to see how we are developing as Disciples of Christ.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 8-23-15
Mark 6:45-56
This is an incredible story of Jesus walking on the water. Mark tells us that they were afraid and that some still doubted. How could they doubt after all they witnessed with their own eyes? They have just been on a very successful mission trip and even witnessed an incredible miracle. How could they not understand? How could we doubt Jesus?
